Bella Spinks + Benedict Benjamin
Bella Spinks is a singer/songwriter from Brighton. She played her first gig at Brighton’s Concorde 2 at only 12 years of age. Fusing her characteristic piano style and inventive vocals she has drawn comparisons to Kate Bush and Regina Spektor. She has a passion for creating both interesting sounds and words. Her live performances have been described as being intriguing and compelling.
To date she has supported The Staves, Rae Morris, Ellie Goulding, Low Chimes, Sea of Bees, Foy Vance and has played shows for London Communion.
Her debut album ‘Homeostasis’ is due for release in September 2018 on Sublime Recordings. The album was produced by Matt Ingram [Laura Marling – Lianne La Havas – Denai Moore] with string arrangements by Tom Hobden [Noah and The Whale].
‘Bella has the true instincts of every born poet, lyricist or writer that ever breathed’ – Tom Robinson 6music
Benedict Benjamin is first and foremost a songwriter versed in the classical traditions of the form, capable of crafting both operatic crescendo and lullaby-like stillness shot through with the heartbreaking swoon of Roy Orbison, the soothing harmonies of the Everly Brothers and the honesty of Jeff Tweedy.
His songs undercut the dream-like beauty of early 60s pop music with lyrics both frank and poetic, creating a powerful Lynchian duality that makes the heart swell and the head spin. His debut album Night Songs came out in 2016 and he is presently at work on the follow up.
