Bethia Beadman
The Quietus described Bethia Beadman as a cross between Maria Callas and Ziggy Stardust. Following the release of two singles and B-sides over the summer, she and her band are playing several September shows for the release of her new studio album ‘Into the Peace’.
Bethia is never anything but British, but North America has always called to her. She’s toured in Courtney Love’s band Hole, and her superlative songwriting recalls her idols Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young and Leonard Cohen.
Intimate and confessional, the songs emerge from a violent energy. Music can sweep you away, make you make bad decisions. Like the best artists, all Bethia’s life experiences have ended up in her voice – languid, velvety, with a resonant cloak of darkness.
“One to watch” – Paul Lester, The Guardian
“Her music eclipses her backstory. One of the best unsung artists around.” – John Kennedy (XFM), Dazed and Confused
