Black Angel Drifter
Black Angel Drifter is the lovechild of Robert ‘Hacker’ Jessett and Anne Gilpin of Morton Valence.
Recognisable will be their continuing love of all things Morricone, their distinctive vocal pairing and songwriting style but Black Angel Drifter are an altogether darker and wilder beast and have created an album which is an unashamedly gothic western affair roughed up with more than a touch of psychedelic dirge.
The eponymously titled album – due for release later this year – was recorded and mixed in a lock-up in Whistable in January 2016. It features the distinctive pedal-steel guitar of Alan Cook, as well as Vladimir Strkalj of Balkan gypsy legends Paprika on bass.
To celebrate the release of their explosive debut album, Black Angel Drifter will be playing live at the Servant Jazz Quarters, with South London folksters Velvet Picturehouse in support.
