Clearlight Night with Flora Hibberd + The Arthur Brothers
ClearLight Records in partnership with Declared Goods presents a double record launch night to celebrate the releases of Flora Hibberd’s debut EP ‘The Absentee’ and The Arthur Brothers 4th single ‘Lovesunk’.
Born in East London but currently residing in Paris, Flora Hibberd has been described as ‘intelligent and measured…there is a profound intuition in her work’ and her songs as ‘deeply rooted in the timeless lyricism of Dylan and Cohen.’ With influences as diverse as Nick Cave, Joan Baez and Jacques Brel, she moves effortlessly between acoustic folk traditions and the bruised indie of PJ Harvey, Jason Molina and Cat Power. Her powerfully emotive voice, evocative melodies and poetic lyrics combine beautifully to give her songs a deeply haunting and unforgettable quality. Her debut EP ‘The Absentee’, produced by J. C. Wright, will be released on Nov 1st.
‘It doesn’t get any better than this, both haunting, beautiful and timeless… I can’t wait to hear more.’ (Song Of The Day) – Folk Radio UK
The Arthur Brothers began life as a recording project and quickly grew into an artistic alliance centred around the biological brothers Matt and Danny Arthur and the producer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist J. C. Wright. Their music is inspired by a mutual obsession for inventive song-craft and a cross-generational love of classic albums with dramatic, bold and intriguing productions. Driven by a devotion to the recording process and a passionate desire to make a record full of mystery, melody, diversity and depth – the Arthurs and Wright, along with a coterie of talented contributors have been on a long and challenging creative expedition. ‘Lovesunk’ – the 4th single from their upcoming debut album – will be released on Nov 8th.
‘This London-based three-piece’s rumination on distance, remorse and the question “how could I be so cruel?” is agonised and haunting… [Flawless] boasts piano, close harmonies and Gilmour-like guitars.’ – MOJO
