Fran & Flora + Sam Beste
Lima Limo Records host a series of eclectic events at SJQ this year. Headlining this month are Fran & Flora, a new collaboration between violinist Flora Curzon and cellist Francesca Ter-Berg which combines aspects of traditional string music from Eastern Europe with original compositions and experimental electronics. Having performed with Talvin Singh, Sam Lee, Hejira, Floating Points, Jocelyn Pook, Dunajska Kapelye and the London Klezmer Quartet, this project brings together Fran & Flora’s shared love of Klezmer, Transylvanian music, melodic lyricism, groove and improvisation to create a sound that is both timeless and contemporary.
The evenings music will begin with a debut solo piano performance from Lima Limo Records co-founder Sam Beste. Known for collaborating with a broad spectrum of artists, Sam is currently performing with poet Rolf Dragstra, producing Tawiah’s debut album and continues to work closely with his band Hejira.
