Francobollo
Quite simply Francobollo is everything you ever wanted for Christmas, but were too afraid to ask. The members, who met at school in Lund, Sweden, have played and recorded as session musicians for bands such as Slow Club, LA Salami and members of Mystery Jets. Cutting their teeth in North London warehouse parties, the band are equally at home in intimate holes as they are on big festival stages; always oozing with joy and sweating hard to make the audience feel onstage with them. Their head turning, eyebrow raising, jaw-dropping, pant shitting shows earned them festival appearances including the main stage at In The Woods Festival as well as Beat Herder, Bestival and Isle of Wight and selling out their own headline dates most recently at the Sebright Arms. Sonically they sound like Weezer, Pavement and Grandaddy in a car crash.
Mercury Prize winning producer Charlie Andrew took great interest in the band after seeing them play, making them the first signing to his newly established label Square Leg Records. He is currently producing their debut album ‘Long Live Life’. The record itself was a test as to how to capture the bands’ onstage spirit. This resulted in an unorthodox approach to recording the majority of the album infront of an audience to inject the Francobollo personality. The first release ‘Wonderful EP’ is due out in September 2016, with the album following spring 2017.
“Francobollo’s charm is their ability to scuff over the details and initiate you into their irresistible movement of not giving a shit. Consider me an honorary member” London In Stereo
“Headliners Francobollo… took to the stage with such immediate vigour and enthusiasm – in the first five minutes I had to dodge a shoe…The band, all grins, stomped, stomped, jumped and danced until the floor shook.” Buzzmag
“A glorious grunge pop art noise” MTV
