KANOO + Seckar
The brainchild of London-based, Scottish musician Sandy Buglass, Kanoo was formed in 2017 and reflects a wide variety of musical interests, including the experimental ambience of Cluster & Eno, the post-rock aesthetic of Mogwai, and the guitar-centric sounds of Malian group, Tinariwen.
Seckar is the alter ego of London based producer and engineer Ray Tovey. Taking his artist name from a small woodland area in his hometown of Wakefield, Yorkshire, Tovey uses classic synth sounds, glitchy guitars, live electric bass and occasional vocals to craft his own brand of melodic electronica. Under various guises Tovey has shared the stage with/engineered for/mixed artists such as Clark, Plaid (Warp Records), The Haxan Cloak (Tri Angle) and Io Echo (Sargent House). 2016 debut EP ‘Herewegobrilliant’ was recently followed by the ‘Routes’ EP in Summer 2018.
Playing around the UK and Germany in DIY Post Rock/Punk bands while developing his skills in engineering, mixing and music production led to work with labels such as One Little Indian, First Word Records (remixing) and Mute Records (engineering) before forming Seckar in 2016.
He is currently working on a third EP, fine-tuning the Seckar live show and mixing for other artists/bands based in London and LA.
