sky coloured EP launch

Folklore & Servant Jazz Quarters are excited to present As A Pearl, the launch of the new release from sky coloured, an art-pop project featuring the songs of composer, multi-instrumentalist and writer Anthony T Jackson.

His two singles released during pandemic lockdowns, spirit (seeing you again) and desire, exhibited influences from electronica which are more fully realised on this new release. It also reflects the work Anthony undertook to complete his 2020 award-winning podcast series on the history of pop music, The Secret Life of Songs.

As a Pearl is a series of meditations on the resonances of history — our musical, colonial and ecological inheritance — in the present.

Languishes in dreamy solemnity … echoes of artists like Perfume Genius and Antony and the Johnsons” — The Music Mermaid

Polychromatic … delicate” — Gigsoup

Support comes from brilliant, wide-ranging producer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Cake, who produced As a Pearl with sky coloured. He has a deft touch for creating thoughtful musical projects and has worked with a huge variety of artists, including the Mercury Prize-winning rapper Speech Debelle.

His live set is a dizzying display of loops, live processing and sax virtuosity: not to be missed.
