Although only in his mid-twenties, Fred could easily be referred to as a seasoned pro of the road, stage and studio. Playing drums for the likes of Billy Bragg, Luke Concannon (Nizlopi), Blair Dunlop and Blanco White (just to name a few), he is a man who can be found on lots of records. On top of this, he has worked under legend Mick Jones (The Clash) on the debut Tom Bright & The Dynamite album, and troubadour-turned-producer Ed Harcourt on Blair’s new record.
Embracing songwriting and production tips at every opportunity, Fred has been able to pull some fantastic musicians into his Sourced. project along the way, including Sam Fitzpatrick (Fitz) who co-produced the EP & Megan Henwood on backing vocals. Recorded over 18 months in various locations, Fred Claridge gives you Sourced, – a collection of folk stories, the seeds of their inception gathered from radio, podcasts, books and conversation, its title an ode to its inspiration. It begins in 1620 drawing on the tale of the Cornelius Drebbel, the man who invented the first navigable submarine as well as early discoveries related to solar power, air-conditioning and
oxygen. Sitting There In Silence transports us into the 20th century, touches on Oskar Gröning’s story, the man known as ‘The Accountant of Auschwitz’. In Let’s Go Away For Awhile he acknowledges his dreams of growing up in the 1960s and witnessing the rise of such bands as The Beach Boys and The Beatles, before examining the complexities of the modern age in Walls, describing the Westminster Bridge terrorist attack of 2017 through the eyes of onlookers that were trapped in The London Eye at the time. These works journey through the ages and draw introspective musings on society, humanity, and the experience of life.
