UNSPUN JAZZ. Phoebe Rea, Venus Without Love, Maddison Goode

We are excited to launch our UNSPUN JAZZ series – specially curated gigs which reflect the diverse range of jazz influence in the independent music scene, influencing multiple genres and blurring the lines. We are super excited to invite Phoebe Rea to headline, and introduce two new exciting guests – Venus Without Love and Maddison Goode.

Starting her career right out of Brit school, Phoebe quickly gained attention from The Other Songs’ Alastair and Billy Webber and in 2018 was selected by BBC Introducing to perform at Truck Festival. Following a break spurred by complicated management deals and a worldwide pandemic, Phoebe has broken free from industry expectations and is stepping into an innovative new form Phoebe Rea reps a fresh sound, blending pop ballads with nu-jazz and electronic elements, her new genre-bending sound is here to illuminate a timeless, sophisticated pop sound. Boasting soulful vocals as big as her hair, her new single ‘Easier’ exudes an effortless elegance, irresistible to vintage and new audiences alike. Cinematic, melancholic, and unapologetic, ‘Easier’ is an anthem to heartbreak and simultaneously the mending of hearts everywhere.

Venus Without Love describes her music as chill hip hop with a bit of jazz experimentalism – she loves incorporating the sounds of 90’s hip hop and neo-soul. She hit the scene running this year releasing her first song Just wan Fuck with her producer PlaygroundTalk in April; and then their second single Cloudy headed this October – With a growing following and several more singles and an EP yet to come. Venuswithoutlove’s music creates a feeling of honesty and organised chaos, often taking inspiration from her favourite things which include fairytale’s, psychedelic imagery, and Y2K fashion. She aims to create music that engages the attention spans of the new generation without compromising on artistry.

Maddison Goode is a 21 year old singer/songwriter and saxophonist based in London. She currently studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. Maddison regularly performs with her band who appear on her tracks and regards their genre as a mixture of indie soul and dream rock.
